DISQ (Domestic Installer Scheme Qualification)
DISQ (Domestic Installer Scheme Qualification) is a five day course, comprising 4 days of theory and 1 day of practical assessment on the fifth day. The course is designed to deliver a certificate of competence to individuals who will self-certify electrical installations through NICEIC (or other DCLG Approved Scheme Providers). The certification provides two levels of qualification:
- Level A for those who undertake electrical installation work as a primary business (e.g. electrician)
- Level B for those who undertake electrical installation work in association with their primary role or business (e.g. Kitchen Fitter, Plumber etc)
Both levels fulfil the requirements of Part ‘P’ of the Building Regulations with regard to competence and self certification of work completed.
The certification scheme is underpinned with a full training and assessment package that will meet the needs of installers working in the following categories:
- Qualified Supervisor for full scope electrical domestic installation contractors
- Responsible Supervisor (responsible for a number of installers) for defined competence, or scope, electrical installation work in support of another trade
- Responsible Person (responsible for their own work) for defined competence electrical installation work in support of another trade.
