City and Guilds - 2391

We have been made aware by City & Guilds that the 2394 Initial Verification and 2395 Periodic Inspection & Testing is reverting back to the 2391 (with open book on-line exams) as follows, with immediate effect:

2391 – 50             Initial Verification
2391 – 51             Periodic Inspection & Testing
2391 – 52             Combined course

A 2391 qualification is currently required to gain your JIB grading as an approved electrician.

The 2391-50 and 2391-51 qualifications are available individually, but you can save time and money by attending the combined 2391-52 course.

We will be running the 2391-52 combined course over 6 days, but will give you the option of sitting either the 2391-50 or 2391-51 over 5 days.

The cost will be:

2391-50 Initial Verification: £707.50 + VAT
2391-51 Periodic Inspection & Testing: £727.50 + VAT
2391-52 Combined course: £870.00 + VAT

Combined course content:

The course will cover the specific methods of inspecting and testing all types of installations, whether single or three-phase, to the current requirements of BS 7671. It covers the inspection and testing techniques as given in IET Guidance Note 3 and how to professionally complete Certification and Reports.

This C&G 2391-52 course is aimed at practicing electricians who wish to gain qualifications in periodic inspection and testing as well as initial verification of new systems. For some time now the industry has been crying out for a simpler more effective qualification to cover inspection and testing.

The course has been introduced to streamline and simplify the qualifications required to carry our advanced inspection and testing. Until July 2017 most people would take a combined 2394/2395 course which required 1 online exam, 6 practical assessments and 2 written exams. This new qualification only requires 1 online multiple-choice exam, 1 written assignment and 2/3 practical assessment.

If you have the 2394/2395 qualification this is still recognised as a valid qualification, therefore if you have the 2394/2395 you do not need to undertake the 2391.

Entry requirements?

You must be over 18 and up to date with industry requirements. You should be working in the electrical industry and involved with the inspection and testing process.

Please note: There is limited practical training, as such we recommend that you attend our additional practical assessment ‘practice’ day.  The cost for this being £100 + VAT and can be booked at time of initial booking or once you have already started the course if you prefer.
