Changes being introduced by Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS), which come into effect from 1st October 2026, mean that all employed persons and QS’s undertaking works within the Low Carbon categories will soon be required to hold the relevant qualifications for undertaking this work (Electrician Plus).
Individuals must have the required entry requirements to undertake the Renewables qualifications for PV Solar, Electrical Energy Storage Systems and Electric Vehicle Charging Installations, amongst other qualifications.
In addition, businesses carrying out Inspection and Testing works such as EICRs, must ensure that they hold the relevant qualifications along with 2+ years working experience of periodic inspection and testing and continual CPD.
If carrying out this type of work, evidence of the qualification will be necessary for those wishing to register with registration bodies such as NAPIT and NICEIC.
Although these changes were introduced from 1st October this year, our understanding is that there is some time allowance for businesses and individuals to gain the qualifications needed to meet the registration renewal requirements.
Should you need any further clarification or like to discuss any of the above and the courses / qualifications needed to meet new qualification standards, please contact us at the office.
