AMENDMENT 2 TO BS7671 - HOW CAN I KNOW WHAT THE AMENDMENT INCLUDES?

The 2382-22 is the latest City & Guilds qualification, which became available as of the 1st April 2022.  Should you have gained your 18th Edition qualification before this time (2382-18) you will need to attend our one-day Awareness course covering all amendment to BS 7671.

If you still hold only the 17th Edition, you will need to attend our four day course – 2382-22 18th Edition Requirements for Electrical Installations.

BATTERY STORAGE - What course do you provide?

We offer the EAL Design, Installation and Commissioning of Electrical Energy Storage Systems course (610/2091/5).  Upon successful completion of this course, individuals can apply for MCS Accreditation.

CONSULTANCY - Do you provide Consultancy services?

We provide an Electrical Consultancy Service across a wide range of subjects relating to electrics.  Alongside our highly qualified and experienced tutors, Redford Charles Ltd have the expert knowledge to provide advice and guidance on most electrical matters.

COURSES - What courses do you provide?

We provide electrical training for City & Guilds and EAL accredited qualifications in addition to Redford Charles bespoke courses, some of which are also CPD accredited, providing verifiable CPD training hours for registered CPD Members.  Click here for a list of all our available courses.

CPD - What is it?

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a combination of approaches, ideas and techniques that will help you manage your own learning and growth.  CPD is expected of most individual professionals in most sectors and is becoming more prominently required by registered bodies to monitor competence and capabilities, ensuring standards are met and knowledge kept up to date.  At Redford Charles we offer a number of our bespoke courses which are CPD accredited and therefore can be recorded as 7 hours of verifiable training activity for a CPD member.

DISABLED ACCESS - Is the training centre easily accessible?

Our training centre is fully accessible, and parking is available at the front of the office.  The main entrance is of a flat surface, with the reception, toilets and kitchen facilities all on the ground floor.  We do have 2 training rooms, on the ground floor and 1st floor and for delegates unable to use the stairs we ask for them to make us aware to ensure the training they are attending is in the ground floor training room.

ELECTRICAL KNOWLEDGE - What if I have no previous electrical knowledge?

If you have no previous electrical knowkedge but need to have a basic understanding, for the purpose of your job roles e.g. site supervisor, we would recommend to undertake our Basic Electrical Awareness & Safe Isolation one-day course followed by the two-day Basic Electrical Maintenance course

GOLD CARD - What do I need to get my gold card?

For customers who require the gold card but do not have the LEVEL 3 NVQ, as part of the GOLD Card requirements we can offer the 2346 Experienced Worker qualification.  For more information see our 2346 page.

MCS ACCREDITATION - What is this?

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme is a quality assurance scheme for microgeneration technologies. Technology which is MCS accredited has been installed to a high standard and will operate both safely and efficiently.  Individuals wishing to apply for MCS accreditation for PV solar and/or Electrical Energy Storage can do so upon successful completion of the EAL PV Solar and the EAL Electrical Energy Storage Systems.

PARKING - Is there on-site parking at the training centre?

Yes. As you enter Temple Court the car park is to your left. Upon entering this car park, turn left and there are bays marked L2.  For vehicles that will not fit under the height restriction, please park in the road behind our block of units (opposite Units G1-G4) or there is an unrestricted car park (past the first car park) to the left on the bend.

PV SOLAR - To what kilowatt does the training course cover?

This qualification focuses upon the knowledge and occupational competence required to plan and prepare for install (including testing and commissioning) and handover of grid connected solar photovoltaic systems with an electrical output of up to 4 kilowatt peak (kWp) connected to both single and three–phase installations.

PV SOLAR - what are the learner entry requirements for this course?

Learners must have an N/SVQ3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent certification that provides evidence of competence.  In addition, if not included in the above, a L3 award to the current edition of BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations.  Learners who do not meet these qualification requirements, MUST have successfully achieved the 2382-18 or the current 2382-22 18th Edition Requirements for Electrical Installations and the 2391-52 Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection & Testing prior to attending this course.

REFRESHMENTS - Can I get lunch at the training centre?

We do not provide lunch but there is a kitchen area, with microwave, that our delegates can use to prepare lunch they have brought with them.  There is also a Morrisons close by and the town centre with alternatives for lunch only a short walk away.  Tea and coffee is provided throughout the duration of the course.

REVIEW - Can I review and leave feedback for the courses I have attended?

Yes, we welcome feedback from delegates.  We always ask delegates to complete the feedback forms at the end of their course and delegates can enter review ratings and comments on our website via the course page they have previously attended.

 

TRANSPORT- Is there a nearby train station to the training centre?

The closest train station is Strood which is approximately a 15 minute walk, or very short taxi ride to the training centre.  Strood station is serviced by the high-speed train from London and also the south eastern train service. In addition, Rochester station is close by.  From Rochester station would be approximately 25 minute walk or again a short taxi ride.

TRANSPORT - Is the training centre accessible by car?

The training centre is located just outside of Strood town centre and accessible from the M2, Junction 2 and the M20, Junction 4 for the A228, with on-site parking available.

VENUE - Where is the venue for training?

Our courses are delivered at our training centre – Unit L2 Temple Court, Knight Road, Strood, Kent ME2 2LTWe can also provide on-site customer training for the majority of our courses to meet the needs of organisations wishing to train a number of their employees at one time.  If this is something you require, please contact the office to discuss further.
