Coronavirus COVID-19 Redford Charles May 2020 update
You have been regularly advised, on our webpage and various forms of social media, regarding our precautions taken to minimise the spread of the Corona Virus and our efforts to keep the Redford Charles Ltd training centre in Strood open, and for business as usual. However, you will be aware that in the interests of the health and welfare of our staff and customers, we made the decision to close the centre days before the Government advised us to do so.
We will remain closed until we receive Government advice that we can reopen, but if schools are possibly opening to more pupils, and some shops, bars and hairdressing salons are possibly opening in July, it would be reasonable to expect Redford Charles to be allowed to do the same.
It is with great regret that we at Redford Charles have had to close the centre, and to remain closed for a little while yet, but the Government advice for socially distance themselves continues, particularly for people indoors.
As social distancing requirements look likely to remain in place for a long time, we are looking at how we can maintain these requirements and still provide the same level of training that you have come to expect from us.
We continue to look into the possible use of video conferencing technology as a way of training delegates who are not able to assemble in the same location in case our closure is prolonged. However, when asked, delegates have indicated their preference for our style of classroom teaching.
We will advise you as soon as this situation changes, and we can all get back to normal.
Together we can fight this by staying apart!

Still looking to complete your 18th edition training?...
City & Guilds are only offering an examination for the BS 7671 Wiring Regulations 18th Edition full course, with a recommended 35 guided learning hours (4 days). No awarding organisation has developed an Update examination.
BOOK YOUR PLACE NOW: Please click on this link for dates and cost: City & Guilds - 18th Edition
The previous one-day update course that training centres provided from 16th to 17th was aimed at electricians having a sound knowledge of the Regulations. However, from our experience we found that for many delegates this wasn't the case, as electricians are busy installing electrical installations without daily reference to the Wiring Regulations.
Therefore, we consider that any update course would not be suitable for many delegates undertaking the course and that all learning objectives could not be met, which is against our training principles. In response to the awarding bodies announcement that only the full course examination will be available, Redford Charles are providing this qualification as a four-day course, one day a week over four weeks, with the exam held in the afternoon of the last day.
Any assessments by your competency scheme assessors, such as NICEIC and ELECSA, will be expecting you to now work to the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
We have copies of 18th Edition publications for sale:
Wiring Regulations £95, Guidance Note 3 £35, On-Site Guide £30 = £160
We are selling with all three publications fro £140 (£20 discount)
