Course Information:
This City & Guilds 2346 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker qualification is for individuals who wish to meet the requirements to apply for an ECS gold card and/or meet the new Qualified Supervisor assessment criteria for registration bodies.

This qualification is designed solely for experienced persons who are, or have been, working in the Electrotechnical industry, practising as an Electrician for a minimum of 5 years; and who can demonstrate their technical knowledge, performance and competence to the industry standards at Level 3 in one of the occupations of this qualification and in line with the current edition of the IET wiring regulations (BS 7671).

Please note the following information:

From the date of your registration to undertake the Experienced Worker qualification (EWA) you have an 18-month period in which you must complete the portfolio and then submit your Gateway application to undertake your AM2E assessment.

The expiry date will be advised by us at the time of your enrolment for the EWA.

It is highly recommended to ensure you can meet these timescales before enrolling, as the 18-month period is strictly monitored.

What opportunities for progression are there?
Learners who successfully complete the Experienced Worker Qualification, as well as the occupational competence assessment (AM2E) delivered by NET, will be judged to have met the eligibility requirements sufficient to apply for an ECS Card from the JIB in the occupation that they have qualified.

This qualification is not suitable for new entrants to the electrotechnical industry, apprentices, or other operatives who require any training, or those who have completed an electrotechnical technical certificate with less than five years’ relevant industry experience. It is a mandatory minimum Level 2 qualification entry requirement for delegates to complete this qualification, to ensure an appropriate understanding of electrical theory and the required scientific principles.

To be eligible to apply for the ECS gold card with this route the learner must have achieved:

  • This qualification: City & Guilds Level 3 2346 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification,
  • A current industry recognised Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671),
  • An industry recognised Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations (which may be achieved as part of a combined Award with periodic inspection and testing),
  • The AM2E Occupational Test (from NET).

Learners must work toward units in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation. This is particularly important when working at heights, inspecting and testing, and diagnosing faults.

Meeting the assessment requirements of performance outcomes will need initial discussions and assessment planning between the learner and assessor as an essential activity to identify opportunities to assess real working environment evidence, gaps that need to be filled, or opportunities to recognise the prior achievement of the learner.

City & Guilds will monitor and carry out external quality assurance of the assessments conducted at the centre.

  1. Richard O’Neill

After a career change and getting through my level 3, I then went onto completing all my other courses with Redford Charles, they teach you to learn not just pass each course you take.
I’m lucky to have passed every course and I have them to thank for teaching me, great discussions on different scenarios etc
Attending the 2346 with Redford Charles was a no brainer for me as I knew the guidance I needed was there.
If you want to gain your next qualification with the knowledge and understanding to pass then I recommend Redford Charles

  2. Abdul – AS Electrical

My experience with Redford Charles has been very positive indeed.

With tutors who have great technical knowledge and experience, who can only put across that knowledge, of which the tutors at Redford Charles do very well. After that, then its down to the individual.

My most recent interaction with Redford Charles was undergoing the Experienced Worker assessment, my assessor being Alan Charlton. Throughout, I was ‘kept on my toes’, where I was guided, instructed and criticised where needed.

The main thing I must mention was the response to my questions and queries. 24 hours, never went by without a reply. At times, I’ve got a phone call that very same day.

I will be looking to undertake my next course with Redford Charles, that being the C&G 2396 Electrical Design Course.
