Course Information:
This City & Guilds 2383-10 one-day course is a refreshed qualification, replacing the previous 2393-10. This updated qualification is designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s learners and employers, ensuring relevance, compliance, and career progression.

This qualification is for those individuals who are practising electricians, operating in the domestic environment, to gain an understanding of how electrical installations in dwellings must comply with all relevant Building Regulations; covering the general requirements of The Building Regulations 2010 in relation to electrical installations in dwellings. The qualification also covers methods of compliance with the six parts of the Building Regulations most relevant to electrical installations in dwellings.

The qualification can be taken as continuing professional development (CPD) or/and as underpinning knowledge for those progressing toward the NVQ Level 3 or apprenticeship routes in the Electrical sector and other CPD provision, e.g. 2922 Small Solar Photovoltaic Systems.

This qualification does not deal with how to meet the technical electrical requirements when carrying out such work, and therefore we are only able to take on qualified electricians with the appropriate knowledge and skills to attend this course.  The course will cover aspects of the building regulations including:

A –       Building structure
B –       Fire Safety
C –       Contaminants, construction and condensation
E –       Passage of Sound
F –       Ventilation
L –       Conservation of fuel and power
M –      Accessibility and use
P –       Electrical Safety and notification requirements

Learner Entry Requirements:
This course is for qualified and experienced electricians and electrical installers who want to upgrade their knowledge and qualifications to encompass the Part P building regulations so that they are able to register with a governing body and work as a Part P compliant installer within the domestic industry; therefore, due to the experience recommendations, this qualification is restricted to 18+ learners.  To summarise, the aim of this qualification is to meet the needs of electricians and electrical installers who work in the Building Service Engineering sector, who need to be able to demonstrate knowledge of the Building Regulations for electrical installations in dwellings and associated areas in England & Wales.

Please Note: This qualification is only suitable for those practising their trade in England and Wales due to there being different regulations in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
